FAQs
What is microcement and why choose it?
Microcement is a thin, seamless cement-based coating that delivers a modern, textured finish. It’s used to transform floors, walls, bathrooms, and more. Suitable for new builds or commonly used for renovations where it can save the need for demolition.
How do I get microcement installed in my space?
You can book a consultation through our team. We’ll assess your project, recommend the right system, and connect you with an approved local installer.
What’s the price of a microcement installation?
Pricing depends on the size, condition of your surface, and the complexity of the design. Typically they start at $300/sqm for floors but there is a range of variables that can affect price. Get in touch for a tailored quote.
What surfaces can microcement be applied to?
It can be applied over concrete, compressed sheeting, waterproofing membranes, screeds, and even tiles.
Will the surface have trowel marks or colour variation?
Yes, traditional Microcement such as our Microtopping or Architop can feature trowel marks or colour variation, and that’s part of the charm. Every surface is hand-finished, so you’ll see subtle movement and natural variation. No two applications are the same. For projects that require a smoother, more uniform finish, we also offer Solidro, a system designed for consistency and flatness across the entire surface.
Is microcement water-resistant?
Once sealed, Microcement is highly water-resistant, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and wet areas. Our Idealwork Solidro Microfinish is also a fully waterproof finish before sealers.
Can Microcement be used outdoors?
Yes, certain systems are formulated for external use. We’ll recommend the right product based on your project and exposure.
Can it go over existing bathroom tiles?
Absolutely. With the right prep and primer, microcement can be applied directly over tiles, saving time and cost on demolition.
How long does the installation take?
Typically 5–7 days depending on surface size and site conditions. We’ll give you a clear timeline before starting.
What colour options are there?
We offer a curated selection of designer colours, from soft neutrals to deep, moody tones. Custom colours are also available.
Where can I learn more about overlay finishes?
You can contact us directly or follow us on social media for design tips, case studies, and behind-the-scenes installs.
